Next little journey, I plan to cycle around Cornwall.
We set of (bike & I) to an overcast morning, with the temperature fare, perfect for cycling.
How far did I get?
All of four miles! I’ve been using an adjustable stem, now with some bigger hills than normal, and a heavier bike, it was just not clamping sufficiently on the hinge with me pulling on the bar ends.
It moves about ten degrees +/-. I could continue, but it could also get worse or just break in time. Homeward bound.
Next, order a fixed stem!
Update June 2012
After some searching, a worthy replacement for the stem was acquired. See Rebuild – Part II.
But due to time restraints, the journey could not commence again. At least, I’ve peace of mind now with a sturdy fixed stem for future journeys.
